The Centre of Excellence in Visual Intelligence (CEVI) at KLE Tech focuses on providing visual intelligence-based solutions to real-world problems. The Centre is established in 2008-09. The researchers at CEVI work on different data modalities with a focus on visual data towards human-like inferences. Research involves generative tasks like restoration in different scenarios, synthetic image generation, and discriminative tasks like classification, object detection/tracking, and semantic segmentation on both 2D and 3D data. Current technology trends like supervised, semi-supervised and self-supervised methods using AI/ML/DL enabled techniques/frameworks to interpret the data. To facilitate visual intelligence inferences by generating engineered data customised for building specific/identified solutions. CEVI also develops techniques for on-device optimisation to address application-based optimisation of AI/ML models, system/architectural aspects of edge AI computing for low precession processing, and multi-objective optimisation. CEVI focuses on the development of new computational methods and their innovative applications to interpret the problems in the areas of Digital Heritage, Agriculture, and Smart Manufacturing.
