The Industry Engagement Model is designed to address this need by building and enhancing programs that equip students to meet and exceed the expectations of employers, creating differentiating talent in niche, high-growth areas, and adapting to ever-changing technological trends. It emphasizes reducing the divide between academic approaches and industry practices, empowering faculty to engage in action research that addresses real-world challenges, and establishing world-class research facilities where students, researchers, and industry experts collaborate to drive transformative discoveries. This model reflects a commitment to innovation, collaboration, and excellence, preparing students and faculty to thrive in a dynamic global environment while fostering long-term societal and economic progress.

Innovating together with Samsung

Samsung and KLE Tech University inaugurated a collaborative lab called SEED (Student Ecosystem for Engineered Data) lab on 31-07-2021 to stimulate the innovation ecosystem, build capabilities among students, promote industry-academia collaboration and work on projects related to Data Engineering and AI.

Samsung Research Institute Bangalore (SRI-B) established its first SEED lab at CEVI (Center of Excellence for Visual Intelligence), KLE Technological University Hubballi. Through this initiative, Samsung is strengthening its commitment towards its new vision Powering Digital India, and KLE Tech is strengthening industry-academia partnership, thus building capabilities among students, faculty, and researchers to work on projects related to thrust areas like artificial intelligence and data engineering.

SRI-B’s association with KLE Tech on Samsung PRISM projects in the area of Visual Intelligence, in which students, faculty, and engineers from SRI-B are collaboratively working, strengthening the collaborative efforts resulting in setting up a joint lab focusing on Visual Intelligence Research.

Innovating together with Samsung

KLETech is a part of Samsung PRISM designed to bring together Professors, Students, and Samsung Industry experts to solve real-world problems and create solutions using innovative technologies. Samsung PRISM provides an opportunity for students to get hands-on experience and become industry-ready. Equipped with the learnings, the students become set to take on any challenge that the industry has to throw at them when they join the corporate world.

More than 200 Students have benefited from this program from KLETech in the last 5 Years. KLETech students have won 14 PRISM Excellence Awards in past few years. More than 20 Faculty have been a part of this program.

Samsung Faculty PhD Internship Program at KLE Tech

As part of its commitment to fostering advanced research and innovation, Samsung R&D Institute, Bangalore, offers PhD internship opportunities to faculty members at KLE Technological University. This unique program enables faculty to deepen their expertise in cutting-edge domains such as Edge AI and Visual Intelligence, driving impactful research and bridging the gap between academia and industry.

Through this initiative, Six faculty members from KLE Tech have significantly benefited, gaining valuable insights and hands-on experience in solving real-world challenges. The program not only supports the professional growth of faculty but also enhances their ability to mentor students, contribute to transformative research, and lead innovative projects in emerging technologies.

This collaboration exemplifies the strong partnership between KLE Tech and Samsung, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development in the field of Artificial Intelligence.

Innovating together with NVIDIA

Over the past two years, the collaboration between NVIDIA and KLE Tech has steadily advanced, fostering the development of faculty and student expertise in NVIDIA’s cutting-edge technologies. This partnership has enabled the undertaking of research projects in critical domains such as camera system solutions, image quality optimization, sensor characterization, driver development, and diagnostics.

The collaboration has recently expanded to address challenges and opportunities in emerging technologies, including Generative AI (GenAI). Joint mentorship by KLE Tech faculty and NVIDIA experts has significantly enhanced the technical acumen and industry readiness of KLE Tech students, driving impactful outcomes and preparing them to excel in the evolving technological landscape.
