Undergraduate Research: Fostering Early Engagement

We believe that research should not be exclusive to postgraduates. At KLE Tech, undergraduate research experiences are integral to our mission, allowing students to develop both professionally and personally beyond the traditional classroom. Engaging in research helps students acquire in-depth knowledge of scientific techniques, apply theoretical learning in practical contexts, explore academic literature, and establish meaningful connections with faculty and industry experts.

Research Opportunities for Undergraduates

To nurture a research mindset among undergraduate students, we have introduced two courses across all departments:

1. Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU): The REU course immerses students in ongoing research initiatives by partnering them with faculty mentors and researchers to work on projects of real significance. Through this experience, undergraduates develop research skills, gain a deeper understanding of disciplinary practices, and enhance their technical knowledge. They also cultivate an appreciation for higher studies and research-oriented careers while exploring valuable networking opportunities.

2. Institutional Research Project Internships (IRP-Internships):Through IRP internships, undergraduate students are invited to collaborate on long-term, faculty-led research projects focused on emerging technologies. Supported by university funding, these projects encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and active participation from students at undergraduate level. In this setting, students develop a research-oriented mindset and cultivate critical thinking, creativity, and integrative learning skills. University also supports collaboration and active engagement of postgraduate and undergraduate students towards meeting the objectives of external funded projects.

3. Sponsored Research Project Internships (SRP-Internships): The institute’s strong research ecosystem, state-of-the-art facilities, experienced faculty, and active industry collaborations enable it to attract significant funding for sponsored research projects. These projects focus on solving real-world challenges using cutting-edge technologies and interdisciplinary approaches. Sponsored Research Project Internships, involve undergraduate students to given them solving challenging research problems and contribute towards the project objectives. This involvement fosters a research-oriented mindset, enhances critical thinking, and equips students with practical skills while addressing societal and technological needs.
