Center of Excellence in Visual Intelligence (CEVI)

The Centre of Excellence in Visual Intelligence (CEVI) at KLE Tech focuses on providing visual intelligence-based solutions to real-world problems. The Centre is established in 2008-09. The researchers at CEVI work on different data modalities with a focus on visual data towards human-like inferences.

Research involves generative tasks like restoration in different scenarios, synthetic image generation, and discriminative tasks like classification, object detection/tracking, and semantic segmentation on both 2D and 3D data. Current technology trends like supervised, semi-supervised and self-supervised methods using AI/ML/DL enabled techniques/frameworks to interpret the data.

To facilitate visual intelligence inferences by generating engineered data customised for building specific/identified solutions. CEVI also develops techniques for on-device optimisation to address application-based optimisation of AI/ML models, system/architectural aspects of edge AI computing for low precession processing, and multi-objective optimisation. CEVI focuses on the development of new computational methods and their innovative applications to interpret the problems in the areas of Digital Heritage, Agriculture, and Smart Manufacturing.

Collaborations: CEVI is collaborated with multiple institutes and is part of many multi-institute collaborative projects like India digital heritage (IDH), Indian Heritage in Digital Space (IHDS), and Digital Poompuhar funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India under ICPS scheme. IITs, IIITs, and IISc are part of these consortium projects. CEVI also collaborated with many industries, leading to the establishment of the “Student Ecosystem for Engineered Data (SEED)” Laboratory in collaboration with Samsung R&D Institute, Bangalore.
