REES-2024 Symposium on Engineering Education Inaugurated at KLE Tech, Hubballi
The three-day Regional Engineering Education Symposium (REES-2024) kicked off at KLE Technological University, Hubballi on January 4th, 2024, inaugurated by Dr. Teresa Hattingg, Chair of Research in Engineering Education Network, University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Dr. Hattingg highlighted the rich history and vision of REES, emphasizing the establishment of REEN in 2011. She outlined REES's vision to create an independent, international, and inclusive community supporting regional networks through resources, workshops, and special journal editions.
Dr. Krishna Vedula, Executive Director of IUCEE, stressed the importance of integrating practice and research in engineering education. Dr. Ashok Shettar, Vice Chancellor of KLE Technological University, underscored the symposium's goal to transcend conventional models by embracing innovative approaches in engineering education. He emphasized the need to incorporate global best practices to enhance the international standing of engineering education.
Esteemed personalities including Dr. Gopal Krishna Joshi, Vice Chancellor of MIT Vishwa Prayag University, Solapur, and Dr. Rohit Kandakatla, Director of KG Reddy College of Engineering, shared insights during the inauguration. Dr. Prakash Tewari, Dean (Academic Affairs) at KLE Technological University, extended a formal welcome to the gathering. Other notable figures present included Prof. Sohum Sohoni, Dr. B.S. Anami (Registrar), Dr. Vijayalakshmi (Head, School of Computer Science), and Dr. Preethi Baligar (Director, CEER) from KLE Technological University.
The 10th edition of the Research in Engineering Education Symposium (REES 2024) commenced with a grand inauguration, witnessing the participation of eminent figures in the engineering education domain. Dr. P G Tewari and Dr. Gopalkrishna Joshi extended a warm welcome to participants. Dr. Krishna Vedula of IUCEE highlighted the fundamental question of teaching effectiveness and emphasized the synergy between practice and research in engineering education.

Additionally, the inauguration included the announcement of the prestigious Duncan Fraser Award, adding further significance to the symposium.
