KLE Technological University (KLE Tech.) continually strives to contribute to the continuous learning of our stakeholders: students and industry collaborators. Towards this, a research-oriented Master's program MS (Engg) by Research, is proposed to cater to the research thirst of the professionals working in R&D organizations. This program motivates scholars to keep up with current technological trends, deploy systematic state-of-the-art technology, and facilitate the creation of new technology. The University started MS (Engg) By Research in the Visual Intelligence domain during 2020-21. This program is a win-win platform for KLE Tech, and the scholars as it ensures that our axes are sharpened and caters to the higher study aspiration of R&D professionals. Currently, the research scholars pursuing MS (Engg) by Research are from industries such as Bosch, Docketrun, etc.; few are doing the course work, and others are doing the thesis research work.

Thesis work
Selection of research domain, Reading SOTA, getting familiarity with the terminologies. Selection of research area, Literature survey, Identifying gaps. Literature survey, formulating the research problem statement and defining objectives. Working on objectives, indexed publication, thesis submission, and final viva voce.
  • The assessment of Part 2 will begin from 1st semester onwards. The Research Review Committee (RRC) and School Research Committee (SRC) will review the progress and submit recommendations to the Research Program Committee (RPC). The students need to submit the progress report every semester.
  • Maximum duration of the program is 3 years (6 semesters); extension of duration to complete the program shall be permitted with prior permission taken from SRC and RPC.
  • The program fee is Rs. 3,00,000 (One Lakh per year).
  • The coursework must be completed in 2 years (4 semesters). Failing to meet the criteria, the scholar needs to re-register the course(s) and complete the same in the 5th semester.
  • The research scholar must complete the coursework, publish at least one research paper based on thesis work in an indexed journal, and complete thesis viva-voce to become eligible for the degree award.

Course work Evaluation

Program Core (PC) / Basic Science (B) / Research (R) / Elective (E) courses:

  • The coursework evaluation has two components: In-Semester Assessment (ISA) and End Semester Assessment (ESA).
  • ISA will be conducted for 50 marks; it is mandatory to score the minimum ISA marks prescribed by the university to be eligible for ESA.
  • Course instructors can include assignments, quizzes, course projects, written exams, or a combination of these as a part of ISA and will be informed at the beginning of the course.
  • ESA is conducted at the end of the semester on the university campus for 100 marks and will be scaled down to 50. The final grade is awarded based on the total marks obtained in ISA and ESA.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC):

  • With the recommendation of RRC and course instructors, candidates can register for MOOCs.
  • The RRC awards the ISA (Max 50 marks) marks for MOOC courses based on the performance of candidates in the MOOC course assignments evaluated by the supervisor and overall performance indicated on the MOOC certificate issued by the online course provider. It is mandatory to score minimum marks prescribed by the university to be eligible for the ESA.
  • ESA is conducted at the end of the semester on the university campus for 100 marks and will be scaled down to 50. The final grade is awarded based on the total marks obtained in ISA and ESA.
  • If the MOOC course does not conduct any evaluation, the course instructor will conduct an ISA and ESA.
  • The course instructor can include assignments, quizzes, course projects, written exams, or a combination of these as a part of ISA and will be informed at the beginning of the course.
