Overview

The department of Engineering Science & Humanities has formed with the merger of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Departments which are functioning from the inception of the college to impart quality education for undergraduate students in fundamental fields. The objective of the department is to inspire the students to have a strong background in basic science for the engineering curriculum and to nourish the budding engineers with fine aspects of science, which make them to understand, explore, innovate and contribute to society.

The department has well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty members and supporting staff. The subjects taught by department faculty are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Students were blessed with spacious and well-equipped Physics, Chemistry and Language Laboratories. Physics and Mathematics sections are recognized as research centers by Visveswaraya Technological University and KLE Technological University, Hubballi.

Physics Section

Strength and Research

The Physics section is an integral part of the Department of Engineering Science and Humanities established in 1979. The section's primary objective is to equip engineering students with a comprehensive understanding of fundamental Physics theories and their practical applications that are essential in developing various electrical and electronic devices, sensors, and materials. The department comprises a team of highly experienced faculty and active research scholars who engage in interdisciplinary research in materials science, magnetic properties of nanostructures for supercapacitors, exploration of carbon nanomaterials for overall water splitting and energy storage devices Presently, there are 3 faculty members with Ph.D. guideship. 3 Students awarded for Ph.D. and one student is pursuing to award.

The faculty members are actively engaged in visiting other academic and research institutes to foster collaboration and enhance the outcomes of research and development. The faculty members are committed to providing high-quality education, fostering innovative research, and staying at the forefront of the latest advancements in the field.

Chemistry Section

Strength and Research

Department of Chemistry was established in the year 1979 as a supporting department to other programs of Engineering. The department is recognized as a research center in the year 2011 and offers Ph.D. Program, which is affiliated to KLE Technological University, Hubballi and VTU Belagavi. Total 7 patents have been published and granted by the faculty members. Department also undertakes the consultancy and testing work. Major research areas are Nanotechnology, Adsorption, Photocatalysis, Energy Storage and Material Chemistry. Our faculty members have published a good number research papers in reputed national and international journals and presented papers in National and international conferences.

Mathematics Section

Strength and Research

The mathematics section is an integral part of the Department of Engineering Science and Humanities established in 1979. Department provides an environment where students can learn, become competent users of mathematics, and understand the application of mathematics in other disciplines. We strive to achieve high standards of excellence in generating and propagating knowledge of Mathematics, also imparting quality mathematics education and inculcating the spirit of research through innovative teaching.

Mathematics section is recognized as Research Centre by VTU, Belagavi and KLE Technological University., Hubballi. Section has 6 recognized research supervisors. Research center has so far produced 7 PhD scholars. Currently 2 scholars are pursuing for their doctoral degree. Team is actively involved in research in the field of Graph Theory and Fluid mechanics.
