Institutional Research Projects (IRP) – 2018

Students get an opportunity to take part in Institutional Research projects funded by the University. IRP provides an exposure of solving a real time projects involving current technologies using KLE Tech ecosystem as live lab. Few IRP initiatives are,

  • Autonomous Electric Vehicle (AEV): This is a research platform for developing hardware and software framework for testing and validation of various algorithms related to autonomous functions and electric vehicle technologies. Robert Bosch Engineering Solutions, India (RBEI) is the technology partner of this initiative. The project is in line with the current research in the area of Autonomous Driving (AD) and Driver assistance (DA). This has resulted in Three publications and Five industry internships.
  • India-Chip: With an objective of bridging gap between industry and institute, the department in collaboration with industry mentors from VLSI has embarked on an ambitious roadmap to design, develop and fabricate fully integrated mixed-signal ICs. This is a co-design methodology in which chip planning, design, implementation, physical verification, and signoff are shared responsibilities between the analog and digital teams.  This initiative has enabled the design and fabrication of a Mixed Signal IC- NKETC2019 (Elapsed Time Counter) with provisional patent filed and has resulted in Three publications in reputed conferences and Four industry internships.

  • Indian Digital Heritage: Institute has identified Indian Digital heritage as one of the IRP area since we have received more than 2.0 Crores of funding from Government and industries in the area of Computer Vision and Graphics. India Digital Heritage is a unique initiative by DST (Department of Science and Technology) supporting collaborative projects between researchers in the areas of Technology and Humanities for digital documentation and interpretation of our tangible and intangible heritage. The project highlights art, architecture and cultural legacy of the world heritage site Hampi in Karnataka, the medieval capital of the Vijayanagara dynasty. In the next phase of ICPS-IHDS (Indian heritage in digital space), DST again funded for creating crowd sourced framework for heritage data repository, analysis and presentation of heritage data.   • Digital Poompuhara:Institute has identified Digital Poompuhara as one of the IRP area since we have received more than 2.0 Crores of funding from Government and industries in the area of Computer Vision and Graphics. Digital Poompuhara is a unique initiative by DST (Department of Science and Technology) supporting collaborative projects between researchers in the areas of Technology and Humanities for digital documentation and interpretation of our tangible and intangible heritage under water. This project involves reconstruction of heritage sites under water, involving processes like refinement of images, enhancement of images, restoration of underwater images and representation of the same.
