About School

We earnestly emphasize on a healthy and intimate teacher- student relationship so that the true potential of each student is realized and flourished. The students are encouraged to develop themselves through various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The School of Mechanical Engineering aims not only to produce efficient engineers, but also well-educated conscientious leaders who can contribute to the development of the country through ameliorating our industries.


The School of Mechanical Engineering offers an under-graduate program in Mechanical Engineering that covers a wide range of courses in Design, Manufacturing and Thermal domains to suit the interests of students & meet the industry requirements. The School also offers post graduate programs in Energy Systems Engineering, Machine Design, Manufacturing Technology & Automation and Research Programs leading to PhD.



The curriculum is continually reviewed to be in line with the changing trends in the field. The experienced and dedicated faculty make a continuous and conscious effort to bridge the gap between the industries and the School through personalizing learning and teaching with the implementation of several active learning techniques, open ended experiments, mini, minor and capstone projects. A sophisticated range of equipment, state-of-the-art facilities and well-equipped laboratories ensure that students get the very best of practical training. The learning is continually evaluated through rubric based assessment. Educational offerings in the School are very much leaned to practical situations providing sufficient exposure to industrial environment. The relationship of the School with the industries is strengthened through their involvement in curriculum development and various activities like seminars, industry visits and expert lectures.

Academic Initiatives

Centre of Competence in Industrial Automation

The organization has entered into an MOU with Bosch Rexroth India Ltd (BRIN) and set up a ‘Centre of Competence in Industrial Automation’ in the School of Mechanical Engineering, which helps in making our students industry ready and more employable.


The ‘MakerSpace’ is a facility created to be used by all the disciplines to promote product development and realization eco-system in the campus.  It intends to provide students with unique learning experiences on real industry problems and products in a work-emulating environment. It helps them understand industry needs, professional requirements and the product realization process. The MakerSpace provides modern design, prototyping, and manufacturing facilities required for realization of any electro-mechanical product. It also provides expert supervision and training to use the facilities. This initiative has helped our student teams to participate in national competitions such as SAE Formula, SAE-ecokart, SAE-BAJA, SAE-Efficycle, ROBOCON, etc. and win several championships consistently.


Research Clusters

The School based upon the strengths and future opportunities has identified 2 areas and hence established research clusters – one in Materials Science and another one in Energy Systems, having potential to further collaborative interdisciplinary research leading to high impact products. The clusters have the objectives to synergize efforts of interdisciplinary groups of faculty and students working on technologies of future importance and relevance, aim to emerge as Centers of Excellence by gaining greater recoganition at National and International levels, focus more on applied research leading to products, IPs and technologies that are useful to the society and also create commercial value, attract external funding and collaborations. The clusters have filed 6 patents apart from quality publications in the reputed international journals in just two years of their existence. Also, they have developed number of prototypes which have the potential to become products.


Project Monitoring through PLM tool

ENOVIA V6 is the Product Lifecycle Management software is available that helps to effectively monitor the student projects. The tool provides an online collaborative environment for student teams and project guide, provides a platform to demonstrate capabilities in modeling, simulation, manufacturing and generation of bill of materials and other project documentation using various application software such as CATIA, DELMIA and SIMULIA on a single platform. The introduction of ENOVIA helps in creating a knowledge base of project data, a central repository of student projects, IP protection and management, easy centralized monitoring and assessment of the projects.
