Multidisciplinary Approach

Huge strides have been made in the area of Industry 4.0 and Internet of Things (IoT) / Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). This results in development of Smart Products, Smart Manufacturing, Smart Logistics and Smart Services, and so forth. However, the realization requires individuals to have multidisciplinary knowledge / approach.

The Department of Automation & Robotics strives to empower students with knowledge from the area of mechanical, electronics, electrical, computer science along with project management concepts and soft skills. This is in addition to automation and robotics courses, like robot design, mechatronics system design, programming industrial automation systems, robot dynamics and control, and so on.

Mechanical Engineering:

The students are imparted with the necessary knowledge to design, model, analyze, simulate and manufacture necessary mechanical components and structures related to industrial robots and automation systems. The students are taught machine drawing machine design, manufacturing & metrology lab, hydraulics & pneumatics and so on.

Electronics Engineering:

The students are exposed to design and selection of electronics components related to industrial robots and automation systems. The students are taught analog & digital electronics circuits, power electronics motor & drives, real-time embedded systems and so on.

Computer Science Engineering:

Programming is indispensable to realize the monitoring and control of industrial robots and automation systems. Further, this is also required to develop information system for the humans to manage the automation and robotic systems. The students are extensively taught on various programming languages and also on databases.
